Golden Scalpel Games®

The Golden Scalpel Games® have been run successfully for the past 8 years as the major education and training event for the HETI Surgical Skills Network. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Golden Scalpel Games has been cancelled.

The Games provides an opportunity for students and trainees to share training skills, knowledge, explore new innovations in technology and the use of simulation environments. The event also provides an important opportunity for networking with network directors of training, education support officers and key leaders of surgical training at the state level from HETI and the Clinical Surgical Training Council.

The 2019 Golden Scalpel Games® were held on Saturday 17 August 2019 in the Kollings Building at Royal North Shore Hospital. It was an exciting day of competition with 9 university teams competing in the Student Edition and 6 Network teams competing in the Trainee Edition.

Winning honours went to the University of NSW team for the Student Edition, and to the Sydney South West Surgical Skills Network for the Trainee Edition.
