Description

Welcome to the practical session Newborn Advanced Life Support: Practical Session - Insertion of laryngeal mask airway (LMA).

The practical face-to-face session includes a revision of related newborn anatomy and physiology: risk factors; and laryngeal mask airway insertion technique. The focus is to acquire the skills of LMA insertion in an emergency situation. Theoretical knowledge gained through the NALS eLearning modules will be applied during the session.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

On successful completion of this face-to-face session, the learner should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate accurate performance of laryngeal mask airway (LMA) insertion in the newborn.

Audience

This practical session is designed for clinical staff whose scope of practice is to perform newborn advanced life support interventions during resuscitation and may qualify for up to 1.0 hours of Continuous Professional Development.
