Welcome to the eLearning module Managing the risk of alcohol withdrawal.
This module supports the management of a patient at risk of alcohol withdrawal. A patient at risk of alcohol withdrawal is any person who has been admitted to hospital for any reason, and as a consequence of this admission may experience alcohol withdrawal due to abruptly ceasing the consumption of alcohol.
It is recommended that you complete the Screening for smoking, alcohol and other substances module before completing this module.
A certificate is issued on completion.
Objectives
On completion of this module you will be able to:
- recognise and respond to patients at risk of alcohol withdrawal;
- implement effective management and monitoring of alcohol withdrawal; and
- organise appropriate referrals.
Audience
This course is designed for All NSW Health Clinical Staff and may qualify for up to 0.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
