Welcome to the eLearning module Hazardous Chemical Spills.

This module addresses the management and response to chemical spill incidents in the healthcare environment. Topics include workplace preparations, risk assessment, equipment requirements and steps to safely clean a spill.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

On completion of this module, you will be able to:

• Describe the key actions to prepare a workplace to respond to a chemical spill.
• Describe the contents of spill kit.
• List the steps in sequence to don and remove personal protective equipment.
• List and describe the 7 steps to clean a hazardous chemical spill.

Audience

This module is designed for all healthcare staff who handle, administer and/ or store  hazardous drugs or manage those who do and may qualify for up to 0.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
