Course Background

Welcome to Newborn Basic Life Support Practical Session - Option 1 (without LMA insertion).

The practical face-to-face session consolidates the participant's knowledge in the recognition of a newborn requiring resuscitation in a healthcare environment. Staff demonstrate skills in relation to resuscitation actions in scenario -based learning activities: discuss effective teamwork for effective resuscitation , demonstrate skills in accurate performance positive pressure ventilation (PPV) and chest compression to the newborn.

A certificate is issued on completion of the learning path.

Outcomes

At the completion of this practical session participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and discuss the components of effective teamwork for effective resuscitation.
  2. Demonstrate accurate performance of positive pressure ventilation (PPV) in a newborn.
  3. Demonstrate accurate technique and ratios for chest compressions for a newborn.

Audience

This workshop is designed for doctors, midwives, registered and enrolled nurses and paramedical staff and may consist of 1.0 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
