Welcome to the eLearning module Infection Prevention and Control Practices.

This module is an introduction to infection prevention and control practices for all clinical staff.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

On completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Identify that healthcare associated infections pose a risk to patients and most are preventable
  • Describe the chain of infection and the different modes of transmission and the risk factors associated
  • Identify the standard and transmission based precautions required to prevent the spread of infection
  • Recognise the need to implement into clinical practice the management of a patient with an infection utilising current policies and guidelines.

Audience

This course is applicable for all NSW Health Clinical Staff and may qualify for up to 0.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
