Introduction to CAMHS Workshop

Overview

The Introduction to CAMHS workshop has been redesigned to blended learning which includes asynchronous online learning modules in Moodle and a synchronous, interactive virtual one day workshop delivered using Zoom videoconferencing.

This workshop, funded by Perinatal Child and Youth, (PCY) Ministry of Health and delivered by HETI Mental Health, will introduce participants to foundational knowledge for working in child and adolescent settings. The participants will explore some of the high prevalence mental health issues that affect children and young people, consider ways to undertake a comprehensive culturally sensitive assessment and identify evidence-based intervention strategies when working with young people and their families.

Course Content  & Duration

The program consists of a series of seven online self-directed modules and a final one-day interactive skills- based workshop focusing on application to clinical practice and consolidating participants learning.

This blended training program will provide participants with a flexible independent style of learning that can be undertaken in their own time and focus on the areas they want to learn more about.

Each module will take approximately 2-4 hours. The modules consist of video presentations, demonstration videos, readings and resources and reflective learning activities.

The seven online modules are:

  • Anxiety Disorders - Theoretical Framework and Clinical Practice
  • Introduction to Attachment Theory
  • Eating Disorders
  • Early Intervention in Psychosis
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Trauma Informed Care
  • Introduction to Family Therapy
