Domestic and Family Violence Screening

Welcome to the eLearning module Domestic and Family Violence Screening.
This module aims to increase knowledge, skills and behaviours of health professionals in routine screening of women for domestic and family violence. The completion of this module is not sufficient in and of itself for staff to undertake DFVRS. Staff will need to attend face-to-face training prior to implementing screening.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

After completing this module you will be able to:

  • Define domestic and family violence,
  • Identify health impacts of domestic and family violence,
  • Describe the rationale for domestic and family violence routine screening,
  • Identify who and when to screen,
  • Identify links for staff assistance.

Audience

This course is applicable for all Maternity staff, Child and family health nurses, Drug and alcohol staff, Mental health services, Women’s health services and may qualify for up to 0.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
