Clinical & Laboratory Diagnostic Genomics Scholarship
Status: OPEN Open 5 May 2023 to 26 May 2023
This scholarship is for NSW Health healthcare professionals with an interest in clinical genomics to attend a short course in Clinical & Laboratory Diagnostic Genomics. Each scholarship will cover the full course fees. -
New Graduate Nursing and Midwifery Rural Support Incentive
Status: OPEN Open 10 Feb 2023 to 26 May 2023
New graduate nurses and midwives relocating to take up employment in identified rural or remote Local Health District locations can apply for a support incentive of $1,000 and use the funds to support their relocation. -
Supporting Entry into University Medicine Program Scholarship
Status: OPEN Open 1 Feb 2023 to 26 May 2023
Prospective students from NSW rural communities who are pursuing a career in medicine can apply for financial support ($1200) to cover registration for a 2023 GAMSAT/UCAT exam, assist with associated costs such as travel to the exam and preparation for the exam (e.g., purchasing preparation materials). -
Nursing & Midwifery Undergraduate Clinical Placement Grants
Status: OPEN Open 20 Feb 2023 to 5 May 2023
Grants up to $1,000 for clinical placements in a NSW public health facility are available to NSW students undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery degree. Grants to assist with accommodation and travel associated with your clinical placement will be awarded based the distance between the GPO of your 'home' university campus and the GPO of the clinical placement. -
Diploma of Nursing Rural Travel Scholarship Incentive

Diploma of Nursing students from a rural area (MM3-MM7) can apply for a travel incentive of $5,000 to support the cost of travel to a recognised Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that is 150km or greater from their residential address. -
Older People’s Mental Health Scholarships - OPEN NOW
All Applied Mental Health Studies units are underpinned by recovery principles, with an emphasis on the application to clinical practice. From the outset, students select their preferred specialisation in mental health including working with infants, children and youth, adults or older people. The OPMH Scholarship covers 75% of the unit costs related to the Applied Mental Health Studies courses. These scholarships have been funded by Mental Health Branch (MHB) NSW Ministry of Health. The scholarship will be administered and delivered by HETI to NSW Health professionals providing mental health services to older people and their families/carers, aged care staff working within the mental health residential aged care (MH RAC) partnership services supported by NSW Health funding, and clinicians providing mental health care to older people through the Primary Health Networks. Applications will be prioritised as follows: 1. NSW Health staff providing mental health services to older people; 2. Aged care staff working in mental health residential aged care partnership services; or 3. Clinicians providing mental health care to older people through Primary Health Networks.

Getting Started in Medicine Scholarship for First Year Students

Medical students undertaking their first year of medicine at a NSW university medical school can apply for a $1500 scholarship to assist with relocation and support study commencement costs. -
Allied Health Rural Generalist Diploma Rural Practice (Level 2) Scholarship
Status: CLOSED Open 28 Feb 2023 to 28 Mar 2023
NSW Health allied health professionals currently working in a rural area and to complete the Graduate Diploma of Rural Generalist Practice through James Cook University can apply for financial support ($35,000) to assist with course fees, technology, travel to attend in person activities if required or other costs associated with completing or attending this training program. -
Rural Allied Health Assistant Scholarship

Individuals from a rural area (MM3-MM7) to complete an Allied Health Assistant qualification at TAFE NSW can apply for a $3,000 scholarship to assist with associated training fees, technology, travel, accommodation or childcare expenses. -
Allied Health Rural Generalist Program (Level 1) Scholarship - Round 2

New graduate and early career (less than 3 years’ experience) NSW Health allied health professionals working in an MM3-MM7 location can apply for a $12,000 scholarship to complete the Allied Health Rural Generalist program (Level 1) online offered by James Cook University (JCU). -
Aboriginal Rural Allied Health University Student Scholarship

Aboriginal allied health students with a rural background who demonstrate an interest in a rural career have the opportunity to apply for a one off $10,000 scholarship to assist with training costs such as fees, technology or placement costs. Priority are given to those students completing a psychology, audiology or a speech pathology qualification. -

Rural Medical Trainee Scholarship
Status: CLOSED Open 22 Mar 2023 to 19 Apr 2023
Rural Medical Trainee Scholarships are available to rurally-based medical trainees to provide financial support for costs directly incurred by accessing activities of continuing professional development (CPD). Scholarship amounts are capped at $4,500 (including GST) per applicant, per financial year. -

Metropolitan Access Scholarships

The Metropolitan Access Scholarships (MAS) program provides financial support to eligible NSW rural vocational and prevocational medical trainees undertaking metropolitan training. -
Allied Health Cross Boundary Grant Program
Status: CLOSED Open 14 Jul 2023 to 4 Aug 2023
The HETI Allied Health Cross Boundary (CB) Grant Program aims to provide financial support to groups of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and/or Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) seeking to further develop their knowledge and skills through group related work learning opportunities that occur during 2023/24. -
Postgraduate scholarships for the Applied Mental Health Studies Course
Status: CLOSED Open 4 Sep 2023 to 17 Nov 2023
Scholarships of up to $8,000 are available to registered nurses who are working in full or part-time permanent positions in mental health services of the NSW public health system. These scholarships are funded by the Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO) and are provided to assist with educational expenses directly associated with postgraduate study. Scholarships are awarded through a competitive selection process and not all applicants will be awarded a scholarship. The Postgraduate scholarships for the AMHS course will only apply to applicants who are enrolled to study the AMHS course offered by the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI). -
Child and Youth Mental Health Services Scholarship
All Applied Mental Health Studies units are underpinned by recovery principles. From the outset, students select their preferred specialisation in mental health, including working with infants, children and youth, adults or older people. The CYMHS scholarship covers 75% of unit costs related to the Applied Mental Health Studies courses with specialisation in Perinatal and Infant, and Child and Youth mental health services. The scholarship will be administered and delivered by HETI to NSW Health professionals providing mental health services to infants, children, youth and their families/carers. These scholarships have been funded by MH-Children and Young People (MH-CYP), NSW Ministry of Health.

Allied Health Workplace Learning Professional Development Program

The Allied Health Workplace Learning Grant Program aims to provide financial support to teams of allied health professionals and/or allied health assistants seeking to further develop their knowledge and skills through workplace learning opportunities. -
NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grants

Allied Health Assistant Scholarship Program
The HETI Allied Health Assistant Scholarship Program provides funding to support the training of Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) and Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians (PATs) seeking to further develop their knowledge and skills. Eligible AHAs and PATs are able to apply for one-off funding to support their enrolment in the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or the Certificate IV in Hospital/ Health Services Pharmacy Support, which will enhance their ability to perform their current work role.

NSW Rural Allied Health Undergraduate Scholarships

Rural Allied Health Undergraduate Scholarships are offered to students from a rural background undertaking "entry level" studies in allied health (leading to a degree that qualifies the student to practice. Up to 20 NSW Rural Allied Health Scholarships, valued up to $10,000, are offered each year. -
NSW Rural Allied Health Postgraduate Scholarships
Status: CLOSED Open 23 Jan 2023 to 7 Apr 2023
Scholarships are available to permanent fulltime or part time allied health clinicians employed and currently working in a rural located public health service, to assist with educational expenses directly associated with post-graduate study. In 2020 the scholarships were valued at up to $10,000 dependent on the course undertaken. -
