Welcome to the eLearning module Interprofessional Family Conferencing.

This module provides information about effective strategies to plan and participate in interprofessional family conferences. An effectively run family conference can improve the experience of patients, their family and carers.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

The stories and activities examined in the module are drawn from real experiences of people involved in family conferences across a range of health settings. They are designed to give you the ability to:

  • Identify the key elements of preparing an interprofessional family conference
  • Apply the principles of therapeutic communication in a family conferencing setting
  • Identify strategies that will support the patient, family and clinician to participate effectively in the family conference.

Audience

This module is targeted at NSW Health professionals such as nursing and midwifery, medical and/or allied health who:

  • Have limited experience in facilitating or participating in family conferences and/or would like to refresh their skills to promote best-practice in family conferences.

This may qualify for up to 0.5 hours of Continuous Professional Development.
