MERIT Program

Description

Welcome to the eLearning module MERIT program.

In this module we look at key components of the Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment program (MERIT) including the role of a MERIT caseworker, an understanding of court processes and information to assist in working effectively with courts.
It’s an introduction to the MERIT program designed for MERIT case workers, with resources for further reading included.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

After completing this module you will be able to:

  • State the principles and benefits of the MERIT program for clients and within the criminal justice system.
  • Identify key stakeholders and relationships in the MERIT system, including effective communication strategies for this audience and their needs.
  • Outline the stages of the MERIT process in the criminal justice system and the role of the MERIT caseworker and client.
  • Identify the principles of a well written court report.

Audience

This module is designed for MERIT case workers and MERIT teams. It may qualify for up to 0.7 hours of Continuous Professional Development.
