Welcome to the eLearning module Yarning about Quitting.

This module aims to improve health professionals' confidence and skills to engage in effective and culturally-appropriate conversations with Aboriginal pregnant women and mothers about quitting smoking. The content of this module is relevant to health professionals working with Aboriginal women, mothers of Aboriginal babies, and Aboriginal families.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

Upon completion of the module, you will be able to:

  • Initiate and continue conversations with your clients about smoking practices and quitting.
  • Recognise common barriers to smoking cessation that Aboriginal women may experience.
  • Identify a range of culturally appropriate strategies you can use to support your clients on their journey to quit smoking.

Audience

This module is designed for All NSW Health clinical staff and non-clinical staff working with Aboriginal pregnant women and mothers and may qualify for up to 0.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
