Description
Welcome to Newborn Basic Life Support Practical Session - Option 2 (LMA insertion).
The practical face-to-face session consolidates the participant’s knowledge in the recognition of a newborn requiring resuscitation in a healthcare environment. It follows the Australian and New Zealand Committee on Resuscitation (ANZCOR) Newborn Life Support algorithm. In addition, the practical session requires staff to demonstrate their skills in the resuscitation actions that they would provide to the newborn.
A certificate is issued on completion of the learning path.
Objectives
At the completion of this practical session participants will be able to:
- Identify and discuss the components of effective teamwork for effective resuscitation
- Demonstrate accurate performance of positive pressure ventilation (PPV)in a newborn.
- Demonstrate accurate technique for insertion of an LMA in a newborn
- Demonstrate accurate technique and ratios for chest compression for a newborn.
Audience
This practical session is designed for medical staff, midwives, registered and enrolled nurses and paramedical staff and may consist of 1.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
