Welcome to the ED - In Charge - The Paradigm Shift.
This course outlines the skills required to effect proper management of case load, department flow and supervision of junior doctors in the Emergency Department. The learning module explores relationships between doctors and patients; doctors and nurses; and registrars and consultants. Case studies are presented for you to consider and nominate an appropriate course of action. A ten question quiz follows the learning module. The quiz is scored and answers are provided when you review the quiz. You can repeat this learning module as many times as you want.
A certificate is issued on completion.
Objectives
On completion of this module the learner will:
- Understand the responsibilities of the in-charge doctor in an Emergency Department
- Recognise the importance of interpersonal and communication skills in the role of the doctor in-charge.
Audience
This module is aimed at PGY1 - PGY4 Emergency Department Doctors and may qualify for up to 1.0 hr Continuous Professional Development.
