Smoking in Pregnancy Part A

Welcome to the eLearning module Smoking in Pregnancy Part A.

This module aims to increase your understanding about the harms of smoking in pregnancy and the barriers women face to quitting. This module introduces a model of intervention, that will be expanded on further in PART B.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

After completing this module, learners will be able to:

  • recognise the health-related risks associated with maternal smoking for both mother and baby and the benefits of quitting smoking in pregnancy.
  • explain the barriers to quitting smoking that pregnant women face.

Audience

This course is designed for antenatal service providers in NSW Health including midwives, child and family nurses, early childhood nurses, drug and alcohol workers, Aboriginal health workers. This may qualify for up to 0.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
