Welcome to the eLearning module Invasive Device Protocols

This module provides an overview of generic principles and protocols in managing infection risk with invasive devices used within the health care setting.

It is recommended that participants first complete:

  1. Aseptic Technique eLearning
  2. Hand Hygiene.

This module should take approximately 30 minutes. Participants can choose a scenario pathway that best reflects their working environment.

A certificate is issued on completion.

Objectives

On completion of this module participants will be able to: Identify your role specific responsibilities for care of the person with an invasive device

  • Identify the potential infection risk associated with medical invasive devices
  • Use a risk management approach that reduces potential for harm arising from healthcare associated infection
  • Identify the importance in monitoring invasive devices in patients.

Audience

This course is applicable for all NSW Health staff including doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health and support staff and may qualify for up to 0.3 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
