Normalise HIV in your practice
Welcome to the eLearning module Normalise HIV Testing in your practice.
This module explores how health workers can identify opportunities to offer HIV testing in a non-traditional setting. The module also explores strategies that reduce the risk of acquiring or passing on STI and HIV. It also looks at ways a health worker can offer support to help improve a person's health outcomes. Each of these in turn will improve health outcomes for the community.
A certificate is issued on completion.
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
- confidently offer HIV testing, and provide appropriate support and follow up
- recognise key indicators to offer an opportunity for HIV testing
- identify strategies that aim to reduce the risk of HIV transmission in high risk populations.
All NSW Health staff who may have the opportunity to offer HIV testing, such as nurses and midwives and may qualify for up to 0.6 hrs of Continuous Professional Development.
