Our Organisation

The Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) designs and delivers high-quality education and training programs and activities for the NSW Health workforce and beyond.

HETI partners with Local Health Districts, Specialty Health Networks, other public health organisations and health education and training providers to develop contemporary, relevant and responsive education and training. Through this collaboration, education and training that meet the needs of NSW Health staff is developed, which ensures patients receive the highest quality health care.

HETI develops programs that support the full range of roles within NSW Health, including clinicians, nursing staff, executive leaders, managers, administrative and support staff.

HETI is a pillar organisation within NSW Health and is Chief Executive led. HETI is structured into the following portfolios:

  • Medical
  • Mental Health and Higher Education
  • Professional Practice, Inter-professional Collaboration
  • Corporate Support and Business Partnerships

HETI's education and training activities range from the development and delivery of essential education for all NSW Health staff delivered through the My Health Learning online portal, through to managing placements for medical interns, delivering postgraduate mental health courses and supporting leadership development.
