Aboriginal Rural Allied Health University Student Scholarship
The Aboriginal Rural Allied Health University Student Scholarship provides financial assistance to Aboriginal allied health students with a rural background who demonstrate an interest in a rural career.
About the scholarship
This Scholarship supports students undertaking studies in their allied health chosen field and assists with the expenses associated with undertaking tertiary studies.
The applicant is offered the opportunity to apply for a one off $10,000 scholarship (pro rata for part time study) to assist with training costs such as fees, technology or placement costs.
Priority for this scholarship will be given to Aboriginal students completing a psychology, audiology or a speech pathology qualification that qualifies them to practice in this profession.

Who is eligible?
Applicants for the Aboriginal Rural Allied Health University Student Scholarship must:
- Be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and be recognised and accepted by the Aboriginal community in which they live or work,
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants will need to submit corroboration of their Aboriginality – please refer to ‘Stepping Up’ as a point of reference.
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and a resident of NSW.
- Have resided in a rural or remote area in NSW for a minimum of five consecutive or eight cumulative years since the age of five.
- Be enrolled in a relevant university course, at least AQF 7 delivered in NSW (visit Map My Allied Health Career) that qualifies you to practice at completion, in the one of the following professions:
- Provide evidence of enrolment in your course for 2024.
- Demonstrate a desire to contribute to the future of health in rural and regional NSW.

* Note: Counselling qualification must be registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

- Explain why you are interested in this qualification and what you hope to achieve from completion of the course.
- Describe how the skills and knowledge you will gain from this study will be applied and benefit the rural community.
- Describe how this scholarship will assist you to complete your studies.
