NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grants

NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grants provide financial assistance to both rural and urban allied health students with the travel and accommodation costs of rural clinical placements

Placement grants of up to $750 (or $1,000 for placements at Broken Hill) are offered each semester. Grants are awarded on the basis of the duration of the placement and the cost of travel associated with accessing the placement.

Priority will be given to students who have not previously received a NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grant, though past grant recipients may apply.

Eligible area

The term “rural” refers to areas covered by rural Local Health Districts:

  • Far West
  • Western NSW
  • Northern NSW
  • Mid North Coast
  • Murrumbidgee
  • Southern NSW
  • Hunter New England (excluding: Cessnock, Maitland, Port Stephens, Newcastle, and Lake Macquarie LGA)
  • Illawarra Shoalhaven (excluding: Kiama, Wollongong and Shellharbour LGA)
  • Nepean Blue Mountains (Lithgow LGA only)

When to apply

Grants are limited to one applicant per calendar year, for placements between 1 November 2020 - 31 January 2022.

Funding 1: Applications open on 25 January 2021 and close on 2 April 2021 for placements starting no earlier than 1 November 2020 and finishing no later than 31 January 2022.

Funding 2: Applications open on 5 July 2021 and close on Friday 10 September 2021 for placements starting no earlier than 1 November 2020 and finishing no later than 31 January 2022.
