Allied health assistants (AHAs) are a growing workforce within NSW Health providing critical support to allied health professionals in the delivery of patient care. Allied health professionals may be required to both supervise and delegate clinical tasks to allied health assistants.

Realising the Potential of Allied Health Assistants
This module assists allied health professionals who are currently working with, or seeking to work with, allied health assistants to appropriately define the scope of roles, allocate and delegate tasks, provide supervision and support the ongoing professional development.
Allied Health Assistant Framework
The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) Framework is a governance document that describes the effective employment and utilisation of AHAs in the NSW Health workforce. The Framework defines the roles and responsibilities that AHAs have in the delivery of care, provides a structure for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to effectively supervise and delegate to AHAs and provides information to assist with growing this workforce safely and effectively.

Allied Health Assistant Coordinators Network
The AHA Coordinators Network supports the professional development, coordination, and integration of Allied Health Assistants across the NSW Health system. This network aims to strengthen the role of AHAs by facilitating communication, sharing best practices, and driving the implementation of innovative models of care within various healthcare settings.
