Rural Interprofessional Scholarship Program
The HETI NSW Rural and Remote Interprofessional Scholarship Program has been established to provide financial assistance for NSW rural and remote health, Allied Health, Ambulance and Justice and Forensic Mental Health Network (rural areas) staff to attend a virtual and/or face to face conference or workshops within Australia.
The scholarships below offer learning opportunities to support ongoing professional development. Where available and appropriate, virtual attendance will be considered.
Scholarship Program GuidelinesStop Domestic Violence Conference 2024
The Stop Domestic Violence Conference, "Stronger Together: Bridging Silos and Building Collaboration" is dedicated to addressing domestic violence through cross-sector collaboration. This opportunity supports networking, knowledge-sharing, and fostering partnerships to improve outcomes for those impacted by domestic violence.
This hybrid conference brings together experts, practitioners, policymakers, and advocates to share strategies and best practices for prevention and response, with a focus on legal frameworks, support services, community interventions, and education and awareness.
Sponsorship covers the cost for virtual registration only.

2024 NSW Palliative Care State Conference
The 2024 NSW Palliative Care State Conference, titled "Above and Beyond – Inspiring the Way We Care" (Gayaldanha Mirri), is dedicated to advancing the field of palliative care by promoting innovative approaches and fostering excellence in care delivery, with a focus on improving the quality of care for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
The conference, hosted by Hunter New England Local Health District, focuses on challenging traditional practices in palliative care, with an emphasis on cultural competence and enhancing care for Aboriginal patients.
This opportunity supports rural Aboriginal Health staff to enhance their professional skills and knowledge and develop cultural competence in palliative care.
Sponsorship includes conference registration and conference dinner only. Travel and accommodation are not covered in this scholarship.

IAHA Cultural Responsiveness in Action Online Training Levels 1-3
The Indigenous Allied Health Australia’s (IAHA) Cultural Responsiveness in Action Online Training is designed to build cultural safety capability of the NSW Health interdisciplinary clinical workforce. This opportunity supports health professionals to improve engagement with Aboriginal people and communities through day-to-day activities that will deepen their awareness and inform their professional practice.
About the training
This training focuses on action-orientated and strength-based outcomes, aimed at critical self-reflection and identifying one’s impact on others. The online course program comprises of three levels that can be completed within a 6-month timeframe.
- Level 1: Introduces participants to the diversity of cultures and languages and highlights the variables in terminology and communication with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Level 2: Unpacks the IAHA Cultural Responsiveness Framework, which is an evidence-based theory that allows participants to understand what is required for change at a system level for cultural safety to be embedded into services. The “Theory of Change” introduces participants to the “6 Key Capabilities” critical in building cultural responsiveness in a workplace.
- Level 3: An online interactive, action-oriented workshop that brings together the learnings from levels 1 and 2.
