Strengthening Foundations
Strengthening Foundations
The Strengthening Foundations Professional Development Program features a comprehensive approach that includes the Strengthening Foundations Virtual Workshop, alongside four specialised eLearning modules focused on Aboriginal Maternal and Child Health. The modules cover essential topics such as working with Aboriginal mothers and families (Module 1), the emotional health of mothers and children (Module 2), health and wellbeing during pregnancy (Module 3), and strategies for supporting healthy babies and children (Module 4).
TSU aim to support AMIHS/BSF workers to meet the needs of families and community. This is based on principles of primary health care and aligned to the United Nations Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The program is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of health professionals who engage with Aboriginal clients and communities across settings. This training supports Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Services (AMIHS) and the Building Strong Foundations (BSF) for Aboriginal Children, Families, and Communities programs.
Completion of the Strengthening Foundations Program will prepare staff with the skills and knowledge to effectively support Aboriginal women, children, and families. It is recommended that this program be undertaken alongside other training, as suggested below:
