About the NSW Health RTO

RTO Number 90198

The NSW Health Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is an Enterprise - Government RTO registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). It provides the capacity for NSW Health to respond to emerging health workforce needs, by offering Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways and Nationally Recognised Training that supports the NSW Health workforce to provide evidence based, patient centred care.

Nationally Recognised Training is any program or training that leads to vocational qualifications and credentials that are recognised across Australia. Only Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) can deliver nationally recognised training and issue nationally recognised qualifications or statements of attainment.

The VET programs are delivered through the RTO's delivery sites comprising some of the NSW Health Local Health Districts, Networks, HETI and the Ministry of Health.

NSW Health RTO delivers and assesses VET programs across a broad range of industry sectors including health services, business services, community services and mental health. All VET programs are conducted by qualified professionals to maximise learning outcomes and enhance workforce performance.

The RTO Executive Office within the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI), provides overall governance and management of the VET qualifications, delivery and assessment and supports the delivery sites to deliver high quality training and assessment to students.

Whilst the majority of students studying with the RTO are NSW Health employees, the RTO also delivers some programs to school students through the VET in Schools Program and future employees through the Diploma of Nursing. The RTO also delivers some programs to external students through its Education Centre Against Violence delivery site.

The RTO receives some funding from the NSW Government's Smart and Skilled Program funding. This includes Traineeships and School Based Traineeships.
