VET in Schools

NSW school students may have the opportunity to make a start on training for a career in the health sector before they leave school, while still completing their HSC.

The NSW Health RTO offers two programs from the Human Services Curriculum Framework. These have optional exams and consequently may contribute towards a student’s ATAR. The Externally Delivered VET (EVET) Program is offered to both government and non-government school students. For further information, please visit the NSW Department of Education’s EVET website.

The RTO delivers the following programs at some delivery sites:

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
  • Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance

All students will need to undertake clinical placements in a Local Health District hospital. Students must attend placement as it is a requirement to gain the Certificate. Placements may be held during the School Holidays. For more information about student placements, and the pre-placement requirements, please see the Student Placements website.

applications for this Program need to be made by the student’s school through the NSW Department of Education’s EVET website. Students wishing to undertake NSW Health VET in Schools Programs, should talk to their Careers Advisor or VET Coordinator. Schools must ensure that NSW Health RTO is chosen in the External VET Tool.
