The Health Education and Training Institute in collaboration with the NSW Health Nursing and Midwifery Office and rural nursing experts have developed a collection of professional development resources designed to support all rural and regional nurses with education and professional development opportunities.

Encompassing a series of tailored e-learning modules and opportunities for postgraduate study, the Rural Nursing Pathways in Practice (RNPiP) is designed to reinforce and increase nursing expertise in the unique environment of rural practice.

RNPiP e-learning modules for all rural and regional nurses

Short, sharp and accessible, RNPiP e-learning modules are for all rural and regional nurses and tailored to the unique context of rural nursing. The learning pathways feature six modules suitable for nurses of all levels to review and develop the core clinical assessment skills. Topics include:

  • A-G adult systematic assessment
  • A-G paediatric systematic assessment
  • respiratory assessment
  • abdominal assessment
  • neurological assessment
  • cardiac assessment.

Postgraduate scholarships

Fully-funded postgraduate courses are also available to support nurses in rural settings, as well as scholarships to support study at higher levels.
