Our Health Story, Our Health Future was the theme of the 2017 NSW Health Symposium. Each year the Symposium shines a spotlight on innovative in the delivery of health programs and services to the NSW community throughout the public health system – and provides a platform to recognise excellence through the NSW Health Awards.

This year, HETI’s Leadership and Management Unit was selected as finalist in the ‘Supporting Our People’ category of the NSW Health Awards for CORE Chat - Our Values in Action initiative, one of the largest culture change initiatives within NSW Health.

More than 2600 NSW Health staff have taken part in the CORE Chat program which empowers staff to take responsibility for identifying practical solutions for workplace challenges.

Delivered via face-to-face training, CORE Chat fosters a culture where staff are able to understand and put into practice the NSW Health CORE values within their workplace – empowering as change agents and in transferring knowledge. Around 99 per cent of participants have reported ‘high’ to ‘moderate’ confidence in their ability to contribute to a positive and healthy workplace culture

Importantly, the course also provides a proven framework for respectful patient and family conversations.

At HETI, we are proud to have been selected as a finalist from more than 160 entries by our peers and recognised at the Symposium attended by more than 1000 clinicians, consumers, academics, board members and managers from health services, non-government and professional organisations from across the state.
