Frequently Asked Questions - HETI CPD Home

CPD requirements are now assessed annually rather than every 3 years. Doctors are now required to do a minimum of 50 hours of CPD per year, spread across 3 separate categories (educational activities, performance review activities, and outcome measurement activities). Additionally, all doctors will be required to develop a written professional development plan.

Further information about specific requirements can be found in the HETI CPD Home Handbook.

From 1 January 2023 all doctors registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) are required to meet new CPD requirements.

Specialist medical colleges have automatically received accreditation as CPD Homes, and vocational trainees enrolled in their programs will not be required to sign up with a separate organisation. Additionally, PGY1 and PGY2 doctors working in accredited prevocational training positions are exempt from CPD Home requirements.

All other fully registered doctors must be registered with a CPD Home to satisfy new CPD requirements and renew their registration in 2024.

Prospective members are now able to register their interest in joining HETI CPD Home by submitting their information in this webform.

HETI CPD Home staff will assess eligibility and then email members to either request further clarification or to confirm their status. Then, once the portal system is live, members will be notified via email to log on to pay the required annual fee, formally register as members, and start to upload evidence of their CPD activities for the year.

You must be a fully registered medical practitioner working in NSW in 2024 to join HETI CPD Home. Medical specialists, doctors enrolled in a vocational training program, and PGY1 and PGY2 doctors working in an accredited prevocational training position are not eligible to join.
