Positive Outcomes for 2017 Medical Graduate Recruitment
Medical graduate recruitment this year has hit a new high.
In readiness for the start of the 2017 clinical year on 23 January, a record 992 postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) positions were filled by HETI, with an extra six positions filled by the ACT for NSW graduates.
This year’s total included 12 Aboriginal medical graduates, four applicants in job-share arrangements and 124 trainees who will be based at rural facilities for the majority of their training.
HETI coordinates recruitment to prevocational training positions via four pathways - Rural Preferential Recruitment, Direct Regional Allocation, Aboriginal Medical Workforce and the Optimised Pathway.
Planning for medical graduate recruitment has already commenced for the 2018 clinical year.
