The second of four Jumbunna Sessions for 2020 – 2021 will focus on Aboriginal children ‘school readiness’. The session will explore the 4-year Personal Health Record (PHR) check with an education and school readiness focus on developmental, growth and wellbeing assessment based on the First 2000 Days Framework.
The webcast will explore ways to improve engagement and connectivity by ensuring care is based on a strengths-based approach with the family being at the centre of all decisions and care. This webcast will provide an opportunity to gain knowledge, share experiences and gain advise from diverse community organisations using an interactive learning approach.
Download event flyer for more information.
Our Jumbunna Sessions are delivered via webcast with facilitated question and answer time.
- Understand the importance of involving the child and family in school readiness assessments
- Be able to discuss the social determinants of health and the impact on Aboriginal children, families and communities when starting school
- Identify culturally strength-based approaches to support and promote families in the transition to school which can overcome perceived barriers to accessing the 4-year old ‘blue book’ health check.
