HETI is pleased to announce that the latest cohort from our Next Generation of Leaders and Managers within NSW Health Program has successfully graduated.

Designed to develop demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, this two-year program includes a Diploma of Leadership and Management, and offers the chance for its participants from across NSW Health to grow into the leaders of tomorrow.

Thank you to our Program Partner, Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (JHFMHN) for their support in providing opportunities to navigate strategic challenges as a team, collaborating with strategic partners.

“The Next Gen program, has given me such a fabulous insight into how to become a better leader and the tools to drive change in culture within my own workplace and to encourage all staff, not just managers to be leaders. This course has opened my eyes to what is possible moving forward in my own career,” said Sharne Hall from NSW Ambulance, one of the 19 participants who graduated this August.

“What this course has given me most is courage. Courage to be the best version of myself to manage others, support and mentor staff, and to lead with passion and sincerity.”

Tasked with various engaging projects, modules and workshops to attend throughout the course, participants reported that it was the overall experiential learning that has left a lasting impact.

According to another graduate, Emma-Kate Dewhurst from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD: “The program is a platform to create wonderful networking opportunities as well as great friendships with my cohort.”

“This program has given me the confidence to proactively access informal and formal mentors. The work placement was an amazing opportunity to step outside my current role; foster new working relationships and set myself up for future career progression.”

We are sure that the valuable individual experiences of each graduate will go toward building better cultures within their workplaces and help to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality healthcare to patients, families, carers and communities.
