ESTABLISHMENT OF ADVANCED TRAINING IN GENERAL & ACUTE CARE MEDICINE NETWORKS IN NSW.

At the request of the NSW Ministry of Health and in alignment with the recommendations of the Medical Portfolio Programs Review: Equipping NSW Doctors for Patient Centred Care, April 2015, the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) established the Advanced Training in General & Acute Care Medicine Networks in NSW.

Establishment of a network training program

Networked training is an important part of ensuring the ongoing development of a competent Advanced General & Acute Care Medicine workforce for NSW.  It provides:

  • Support for all Advanced General & Acute Care Medicine trainees to have access to high quality clinical and educational opportunities in all accredited training sites;
  • Recognition of the importance of rotations between metropolitan and regional/rural hospitals for Advanced General & Acute Care Medicine trainees;
  • Network support for facilities to establish new accredited training positions in Advanced General & Acute Care Medicine.

The current Clinical Chair for the General & Acute Care Medicine Network Training Program is Dr Lisa Dark and network contact details are as above.
