Metropolitan Access Scholarship Application Guidelines

The Metropolitan Access Scholarship (MAS) aims to support rural trainees to obtain a diverse training experience by ensuring trainees gain access to specialist terms not offered in rural or regional centres while expanding their professional network.

The Metropolitan Access Scholarships are available to eligible NSW rural vocational, non-specialist doctors (SRMOs or trainees working in unaccredited training positions), Rural Generalist doctors and Rural Preferential Recruitment Program PGY1/2 trainees who are relocating to undertake metropolitan training.

The scholarship is valued at $12,000 provided pro rata based on the number of weeks of the metropolitan placement.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Metropolitan Access Scholarship, applicants must be:

  • Relocating from your primary rural location to undertake metropolitan training terms during the 2023 clinical year
  • College-enrolled vocational trainee or
  • Rural Preferential Recruitment Program PGY1/2 trainee or
  • Non-specialist doctor (SRMO or Trainee working in an Unaccredited Training position) or
  • Rural Generalist doctor
