This two-part event will explore the opportunities that emerge when we systemically embrace the learnings that arise from failure. In the Breakfast Session Professor Peter Shergold AC, Chancellor of Western Sydney University and former Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet will share insights from his extensive experience at the highest level of government. Ms Elizabeth Koff, Secretary NSW Health, and Mr Michael DiRienzo, Chief Executive Hunter New England Local Health District, will present experiences of specific failure events and case studies. They will explore the learnings and highlight the opportunity for cultural development in NSW Health. All three speakers will participate in a panel discussion to explore implementation opportunities to avoid future failures.
The following Masterclass Session has three concurrent sessions which are repeated to allow each participant to attend two sessions. These sessions focus on working with failure at the individual, team and organisation or systems level. They will explore more deeply overcoming the barriers to learning through failure and how working with failure can strengthen workplace trust and patient outcomes.
