Welcome to the eLearning module Communicating during Challenging Situations.
The design of this module has been underpinned by the ‘Patient/Client/Family/Community-Centred Care’ domain within the Canadian National Interprofessional Competency Framework: Clinicians seek out, integrate and value as a partner, the input and the engagement of the patient / client / family / community in designing and implementing care / services.
A certificate is issued on completion.

By the end of this module you should be able to:

  • Identify a range of situations
  • Be aware that cultural differences and differences in perspective can contribute to misunderstandings and miscommunication
  • Use assertive communication techniques, including conflict management, effectively in the workplace
  • Understand the various policies, procedures, and workplace practices you are required to comply with when dealing with difficult situations.


This course is applicable for all Health Professionals new to the NSW Health facilities and may qualify for up to 0.5 hrs of Continuous Professional Development
